April is the month of the military child, and it is important we recognize the sacrifices made by not only our deployed forces, but their families as well.

Operation: Military Kids Goes Summer Camp Crazy!
Operation: Military Kids is putting on a series of camps this summer to help Louisiana's geographically dispersed military children and youth. Camps will be all over the state and open to military kids from all services. Camps include horseback riding, survivor skills, zoo camp, Military Kids Marsh Maneuvers and more.

Citizenship Washington Focus 2010
CWF 2010
Each summer a Louisiana 4-H CWF delegation heads to the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) conference gives 4-H youth the opportunity to explore, develop and refine the civic engagement skills they need to be outstanding leaders in their home communities and at the national level.

Focus on Citizenship in Washington DC
Experiencing DC is fun!
Spend a week in Washington DC at the Citizenship Washington Focus Conference with 4-Her’s from across Louisiana. Through sightseeing tours in the living classroom of Washington, D.C., hands-on educational workshops, and visits with your Congressmen, learn about the history of our nation, the leaders who have shaped it, and how you can apply the leadership and citizenship skills you have learned at CWF when you return home.
‘Military kids’ come together for Earth Day camp
(Radio News 04/26/10) About 100 youngsters participated in an Earth Day-themed overnight camp at LSU AgCenter’s Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center. The event was part of Operation: Military Kids, a program aimed at helping military personnel and their families meet and get to know others who are having similar experiences. (Runtime: 60 seconds)

Operation: Military Kids is hosting a Speak Out for Military Kids (SOMK) Clover College track at this year's 4-H U, with opportunities to join the SOMK State Board. Scholarships are available to anyone interested in attending.

The RTTH Program is a partnership between the LSU AgCenter and local community and faith-based partners to bring the findings of evidence-based reading research to the educational community and families with an interest in helping all people learn to read well. As depicted in the research poster, logic modeling of the RTTH Program is helping us assess the effect of reading interventions on reading motivation and proficiency.
